The Harlow Interview
When did you first know you wanted to be an author?
Believe it or not, in the 6th grade.
What makes you passionate about writing?
The stories I’m compelled to tell, especially when the characters begin speaking to me.
What was the pathway like for you to get Life in Death published?
Because I thought the task of self-publishing would be a bit daunting for me, I put all the work in the very capable hands of Novel Publicity.
Where do your ideas come from? How do you know the idea is good enough to write a book about it?
Some ideas for books come to me right before I doze off to sleep. For example, I started with a totally different premise for Life in Death when a new, more compelling premise came to me.
What’s your secret to making the characters in your books come to life?
Dialogue. I enjoy creating the interplay between characters.
Besides writing what other talents or hobbies do you have?
I love Zumba, volleyball, and playing with the dogs.
What words of advice do you have for other writers who desire to have their manuscripts become books in print?
With self-publishing, there’s no guarantee that you’ll get your initial investment back within the first or even second year, so it really has to be about more than just making money.
Any final words you would like to share?
Buy the ticket, take the ride!
